Helping commercial landlords find creative and charity based tenants in need of their perfect temporary space? It’s what we do best. One such space is a former office at The Avenue SS, Newton Mearns, and we’re thrilled to introduce the first new resident!
Emily McHaffie is an abstract oil painter who has been painting for around five years after rediscovering the joy it once brought her as a child.

“Painting for me is very relaxing – almost therapeutic. I can literally lose myself for hours.”

The inspiration for her artwork has emanated from the solace she finds in nature and the calmness it can bring in a world so otherwise ‘chaotic’ at times.
Like so many of us along with her, Emily recounts her journey through the turbulent times of the pandemic and how the beauty of nature has helped her cope. In turn, she hopes that others can also find a sense of calm through her artwork.
“Being in nature became so vital to my health and well-being. I enjoy painting “Meadowscapes” where I hope to evoke a sense of peace as well as a sense of wildness and freedom.”
In April 2022, with the help of Outer Spaces and Hammond Associates, Emily found her perfect temporary space in Newton Mearns on the outskirts of Glasgow.
She quickly got to work personalising the studio space and making it her own; now with all her many painting tools and canvases at her fingertips in a quiet, calm environment – perfect to let her creativity shine.
In her bio, Emily says:

“I feel so fortunate to have been given my new studio space. It has been such a positive and productive experience for me. I now have a dedicated work and storage space where I can shut myself away and paint without distraction. It has also given me the opportunity to focus on larger pieces of work.”

Emily already has plenty more ideas lined up ready to come to life on canvas with the help of her new studio space; her next step is to look at setting up a social media page where she can showcase her work, gaining the exposure and recognition she deserves for her beautiful paintings.
Two more creatives will be joining Emily in due course, and we can’t wait to see the results!
